Hi, I’m Erik Maasch.

(Maasch, like “Mosh pit”)

I photograph people, food, spaces, and love finding beauty in everyday moments. Whether you need new headshots, an afternoon with family, or full-day wedding coverage, my goal is the same: create images that feel true to you and the things you love.

I'm based in Leland, North Carolina, and I work throughout Brunswick and New Hanover Counties (and beyond) when the project calls for it. I've been photographing seriously for over fifteen years, and love helping people feel comfortable in front of the lens.

Before photography became my primary professional focus, I trained in classical voice and musical theatre which sounds like a strange detour until you realize that performing teaches you exactly what it feels like to be watched. I know what it's like to stand in front of a camera and not know what to do with your body. That's shaped how I work with people who feel the same way, which is almost everyone, at first.

My approach is relaxed, honest, and collaborative. I'll guide you just enough to keep things comfortable, with space for real moments to unfold. You'll receive a thoughtfully curated gallery with plenty of real choice, not endless near-duplicates.

On the commercial side, I've worked with businesses across the Cape Fear region for years - restaurants, nonprofits, healthcare organizations, publications, and brands that need consistent, quality imagery to tell their story. A handful of those relationships have turned into long-term partnerships, which is some of my favorite work. There's something different about knowing a brand well enough to anticipate what it needs.

Every time a family lets me into their lives, a couple trusts me with their wedding, or a business invites me to tell its story, I'm grateful and put my all into making things perfect (well, as perfect as they can be). My hope is simple: that your photos bring you right back to how those moments felt, and why they mattered in the first place.
